This two-year diploma program is designed for the person who wants to work behind the scenes in the television broadcasting industry. The Broadcast Television/Videography program combines both the creative and technical aspects of broadcast television and videography. This two-year Ontario College Diploma program emphasizes the technical aspects of television production in live studio broadcast situations, production management, ENG (news) and EFP location shooting techniques, broadcasting on the Internet and live remote production.
During their time at Humber College students will have the opportunity to produce programming in High Definition and also work on shows already in development that air on Canadian specialty digital channels. You will graduate with a resume that already includes real broadcast experience
WHY SHOULD I ENROL IN BRTV?
You are a person who has always wondered how television production works from the inside. You may be a sports fan who watches the CFL, NHL, Major League Baseball, the NFL etc. and have always wanted to work in that kind of fast paced live setting. Or, you are a big fan of series television and wanted to have your name in the credits of a television sitcom, drama, or reality show. Maybe you are a news buff who would like to cover events as they happen around the world. If this describes you, then you really belong in the Broadcast Television/Videography program at Humber. We can provide you with the necessary skills to pursue those careers.
WHAT WILL I DO IN BRTV?
You will have the opportunity to create television projects both as an individual and as a production team made up of fellow students. You will produce video shorts, work in the control room of a broadcast studio, develop and create commercials and Public Service Announcements (PSAs), produce live to tape broadcasts of sporting events and other entertainment shows, and you will have the opportunity to be part of the crew for television shows that are currently running on many local specialty channels. Many students have to wait until they graduate to get "real world" experience, but you will be getting that expertise while still in school.
