Welcome to the School of Media Studies & Information Technology Continuing Education & Career Development Centre.
There are changes going on in our School in regards to Continuing Education (CE) and Career Development! Beginning in the fall of 2009, all Continuing Education courses offered through SMSIT will be centralized and managed through the Centre for Continuing Education and Career Development. This activity will include all courses formerly offered through the Digital Imaging Training Centre (DITC), as well as courses formerly offered through the Post Production Training Centre. The advantage of centralizing our CE activity is that it allows us to share physical resources, faculty expertise and industry contacts across the entire School.
We want you to know that we listen to you – our students. Based on your feedback, we hope to provide you with greater customer service. Beginning fall of 2009, we will be keeping the Continuing Education and Career Development office open evenings from Monday to Thursday until 7:30 p.m. You are welcome to drop by our office located in Room J122 of the north campus if you have any questions regarding our CE or Career Development programs.
We offer specialized part-time certificates and courses in the fields of 3D animation (both 3ds Max and Maya), computer programming and data base development, digital design, graphic design, creative advertising, media arts and communication, audio and video production, screen writing and film appreciation, photography, journalism, public relations, visual arts and web design and web development. We also will continue to offer our specialized day programs focused on adult upgrading in Graphic Design for Print and Web, Web Design and Development, and Visual and Special FX for 3D. Our courses are offered through a variety of innovative and flexible options including some that are delivered entirely on line.
Our faculty is made up of current industry experts, whose knowledge and passion will take you beyond the basic execution skills to the complexity and challenges required in the real world outside of the classroom. We are proud of our unique partnerships and agreements with industry leaders such as Adobe Systems, Microsoft Canada, Autodesk, Apple Canada, Hewlett Packard, Dell Canada, and Vicon Motion Systems. Humber is a proud member of the Adobe Partners by Design, an alliance between Adobe Systems Incorporated and 27 of the top design schools in the world. In addition to our alliance association, we are also an Authorized Adobe Training Centre.
