Bachelor of Applied Arts - Film and Media Production

This is a new four-year program starting in the Fall of 2009 that combines theory and practice with the goal of preparing students for a career in media. An emphasis is placed on writing and storytelling and the creation of compelling visual narratives. In addition to film, the program focuses on multi-platform delivery to take advantage of new content channels such as hand-held devices and the web. Students will study a full range of courses including screenwriting, picture editing, sound, directing, cinematography and post-production. In addition, there is a film and media theory component combined with courses such as entertainment law and business. In their final year students will work on a capstone project.

Our faculty is composed of industry professionals who bring their working experience to the classroom. Students will graduate with a complete set of skills and experience that will allow them to thrive in competitive field.

Work Placement
This program also includes a work placement component so that students have an opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience. The work placement takes place in the summer between years three and four.
