Humber's Graduate Certificate Fundraising and Volunteer Management Graduate Certificate Program will give you the tools you need to build or advance your career in the rewarding field of fundraising.
The Program
This three semester program trains college and university graduates for the dynamic world of fundraising.
Graduates take professional roles in developing resources for not for profit organizations that are active on issues such as health care, international development, the environment, animal welfare, children, youth groups, education, human services, women's rights, advocacy, politics, arts and culture, sports and recreation, religion, and more.
Graduates may also recruit, supervise and partner with volunteers, ranging from teams of people creating special events to members of a charity's board of directors.
Curriculum
Based on extensive experience and knowledge of charities and other volunteer organizations, the program uses case studies to teach students to design and conduct organized, highly effective, professional campaigns.
Course content includes special events, major individual donors, direct marketing, grant applications, legal and ethical aspects of philanthropy, donor management software such as The Raiser's Edge and income manager, relationship building, presentation skills, and human resource management. In addition to the classes, networking sessions are designed to allow participants to meet with experts in the profession. Students spend the final weeks of the program on internship.
Networking opportunities are plentiful through assignments with charities, guest speakers and participation in major professional events.
Faculty are drawn from active practitioners and leaders with the enthusiasm and communication skills necessary to share information and develop strategies to address the challenges faced by not for profit organizations.
